Chappaquiddick is a 2017 American drama film directed by John Curran and written by Taylor Allen and Andrew Logan. Chappaquiddick is based on the untold true story of a car accident. In 1969 that ended with the death of a passenger Mary Jo Kopechne who worked as a campaign strategist for Kennedy when Ted Kennedy drives his car off a bridge on Massachusetts' Chappaquiddick Island. The ongoing investigation into the mysterious and scandalous events forever alters his political legacy -- and ultimately changes the course of presidential history.
